MAC’s new ‘The T Zone’ podcast

MAC Cosmetics is giving beauty aficionados an inside look into the industry with its debut podcast series The T Zone.

Hosted by MAC’s global Creative Director, Drew Elliott and the brand’s Executive Group President, John Demsey, the seven-part podcast is kicking off with burlesque icon Dita Von Teese as the first guest.

Teese will deep dive into the art of being a ‘glamonatrix’, her performance for MAC on a giant Viva Glam lipstick and more about her personal life.

“In a world that is maxed out or a world that knows too much, there’s always another angle,” said Demsey.

“This podcast is all about real people doing remarkable things and providing an inside look into the cultural moments they represent.

“Beauty is a market of what’s happening in the culture and MAC has always has always been at the centre of the cultural zeitgeist as an arbitrator of style.

“Now we bring this to life through a series of never-been-told-before conversations.”

Elliott, meanwhile, who has served as a judge on ‘America’s Next Top Model’, said the podcast will serve to bring like minded people together as a community.

“John and I both have a deep appreciation for all things pop culture, beauty and fashion, and thought it would be fun to turn the countless conversations we’ve had together, riffing on trends we’re loving at the moment into a podcast series,” he added.

“It’s also about bringing like minded people together as a community, just as we have with the brand since our conception.

“MAC has always had a look, but now we have a sound.”

The podcast is available on all major streaming platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Google podcasts.

Beauty’s voice

The beauty industry has never had an issue with finding its voice.

Outspoken Beauty is the podcast run by beauty editor and broadcaster Nicola Bonn, which has featured members of the beauty industry, discussing products and brands, and sharing their own stories.

Natalie Elliott, founder of Sakrid, has also introduced her own radio show on UK Health Radio: The Natural Beauty Show.

Others have used their platforms to tackle taboo topics.

UK retailer Boots introduced its Taboo Talk podcast, hosted by Irish model and TV personality Vogue Williams, which discussed intimate subjects with celebrity guests.
