As Zalando continues to grow as a business, we’re looking for a Head of Social Media and Influencer that can lead innovative, culture-centric and insight-led strategies and plans that will land with success and seed Zalando’s reputation and brand values. This role also requires a high-level grasp of commercial viability while also managing global budgets, incumbent agencies and brand partners.

The Head of Social Media and Influencer will work to develop robust, integrated social media and influencer strategies that drive engagement and advocacy for Zalando and Zalando propositions (such as Designer, Beauty and Recommerce), they will develop and manage a broad strategy to innovate and set world-class standards for social media and influencer marketing. They will develop and lead a team that can create and implement highly shareable content that is creative, thumb-stopping and in line with our Zalando brand values. They will be expected to work closely with global marketing, local marketing and PR teams to ensure that social media plans are effectively integrated into Global and local marketing and paid media efforts, as well as leverage any potential earned and owned media opportunities. They will partner with key social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, as well as seek out and develop new and emerging platforms that can help us grow our customer base and brand.

  • The ideal candidate will understand how to use social media to strategically build brands, create attention and generate customer advocacy on a global scale. They will have developed highly creative social media marketing campaigns (preferably in the fashion space) and will have demonstrated the ability to think big and implement innovative ideas in ways that create significant social sharing and PR attention. Reporting to the VP Marketing, they will play an active role in ensuring the efficient and effective execution of campaigns at both a global and local level, paid and organic, while advocating a culture that promotes creative, social-first, culture-driven and collaborative ways of working.
  • The Head of Social Media and Influencer will lead the development of a strategic social media marketing plan and its associated budget across campaigns and channels, and will credibly position Zalando at the heart of fashion & beauty culture. These plans will result in solid and meaningful relationships with our target audience, external partners, and key people of influence.
  • This candidate will understand the importance of a brand being able to stand out in a competitive marketplace. Naturally passionate about sustainability, diversity and self-expression, the Head of Social Media and Influencer will understand what is culturally relevant and build an emotional connection with consumers, both locally and globally.
  • The Head of Social Media and Influencer will stay abreast of emerging issues and challenges that Zalando is – or could – face in the future. They will be proactive in their approach to finding solutions and contributions that will help future-proof the business.
  • Lead the development and direct the implementation of a wide range of content forms, including video, text, still imagery, animation, live action and other content forms that best utilize the technology available on any given social media/digital platform whilst encouraging innovation


  • You have 10+ years relevant experience working in Social Media, ideally within fashion and lifestyle industries, and with globally established brands. 10+ years’ of management experience.
  • You are experienced at leading global Social Media and Influencer teams while also strategically guiding cross functional teams to activate effectively.
  • Adept at working across influencer and brand marketing to create fully-integrated campaigns.
  • Experienced in executing brave and bold communication plans that can generate brand love and commercial success.
  • Comfort in working in a fast-paced environment, adapting quickly and flexibility to change.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, both verbal and written.
