How to Do a Bob Twist in 2022

NGL, I love a good bob. The style is chic and easy to maintain, and it just feels fun to move your head around when you’ve got one—all solid pros, IMO. This is why I’m SO excited about the style on this week’s episode of The Braid Up. It’s a gorgeous bob with equally gorgeous twists—a perfect choice if you’re leaning toward chin-length hair and you want a unique alternative to classic braids. This look is the brilliant handiwork of Gloria Gwazuang, a NY-based senior stylist at Magic Fingers Studio.

Wanna try out this bouncy bob with twists for yourself? Follow these four key tips to get it done right.

1. Grab some braiding hair. Sure, this is a shorter style, but you still may need extra twisting hair to execute this look. Make sure to bring a few packs of Kanakelon hair to your salon appointment.

2. Rubber bands will seal the deal. If you’re doing this style yourself, keep in mind that the twists are held together with rubber bands (mini bands that match your hair color are the best for blending) so be sure to keep a pack of backups ready JIC any of them snap.

3. Have fun with accessories! The gold cuffs that Gloria added to this style are such a vibe, and the hair accessory potential doesn’t stop there. Any hair jewelry or charms will look amaze with these twists.

4. Keep that bonnet on. I can’t emphasize this one enough. Wearing a bonnet to bed is absolutely necessary for protecting your style while you sleep. Like, do you know how annoying it is to get your hair done and then have it look worn out after the first week? Bonnets and silk headscarves are the key to avoiding that whole situation.
